A huge ball of brightly burning gas drifting through a neighboring galaxy may be the heaviest star ever discovered – hundreds of times more massive than the sun, scientists said Wednesday after working out its weight for the first time. Those behind the find say the star, called R136a1, may once have weighed as much as 320 solar masses.

A small Mosgiel business is cleaning up in the handcare business. MIKE HOULAHAN reports.
You don’t often get a more graphic demonstration of a family business than this: John Ewart is packing up orders for Henrietta Natural Body Care Products’ range of farmer’s soaps, while wife Cindi tells the story of their company’s 25 year history.
While Henrietta’s two rooms in a building adjacent to the old Mosgiel Woollen Mills may seem small, the company’s interests are far-ranging. For many years the company’s range of products have been popular in Asian markets, and Henrietta also has distribution in Britain and Australia.
Here in New Zealand 80 per cent of trade is in its range of rural products, and it has customers nationwide.
Henrietta Soaps was founded by former Queenstown woman Henrietta Rutherford-Jones, and made its products according to a secret French Polynesian recipe which had been handed down through the generations. Rutherford-Jones sold the company and recipe to fund a move to India to work with Mother Teresa, and in 1992 the Ewarts acquired the firm.
The soaps are no longer handmade – the mixer has been retired to the garage and manufacture has been contracted out to an Auckland firm – but they have stayed true to Henrietta’s's all-natural approach to soap and beauty products. “With the greenness of a large proportion of our population it makes sense,” Cindi Ewart said.
Coconut palm kernelate, sunflower oil, lanolin, oatmeal, natural scenting and a few secret ingredients make up the base soap recipe.
“The company that was contract manufacturing when we purchased had an absolutely brilliant man who was an industrial chemist. Over the years we’ve made honey soap, seaweed soap and goat’s milk soap . . . we would have a mixer on our kitchen bench, try things out and send them off to him and say ‘this is what we want to do, sort this out’ and that was what he would do.”
Henrietta soaps were previously sold from Manse St in central Dunedin, before the Ewarts bought a lifestyle block near Mosgiel and moved the company into the downstairs portion of their home

WASHINGTON – For the first time in six months, the federal unemployment report to be released Friday will likely show a net loss of jobs.
But hold off on the panic button.
It’s true that employers are expected to have cut more than 100,000 jobs in June. But that figure, if accurate, will be deceptive. It will reflect the end of up to 250,000 temporary census jobs. The real focus Friday will be on how many net jobs private employers created.
“People are looking past the census effect,” said Alec Phillips, an economist at Goldman Sachs.
Analysts predict private businesses added 112,000 jobs in June, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters. That would be a healthy rebound from May’s 41,000 gain. But it’s far from enough to signal a roaring recovery or rapidly reduce the unemployment rate, now at 9.7 percent. It would take a net gain of around 200,000 jobs a month to quickly reduce that rate.

YOU’VE probably never heard of Claire Willetts, which is odd, because she’s pinched pounds 52,000 out of our collective pockets.
Mum-of-four Willetts is a shining example of our something-fornothing society. The 29-year-old has been exposed as one of this nation’s legion of benefit fraudsters, a member of TV’s Shameless generation.
Willetts swindled the Department of Work and Pensions out of pounds 52,410, claiming she was a single mother when in fact she was hitched up with the father of their children.
It wasn’t the most elaborate scam. The couple had a joint bank account and Willetts’ address, in Walsall, was the same as the one the kiddies’ dad gave on official documents.
Still, it took eight years for her deception to be discovered, meaning the thieving mum merrily pocketed pounds 6,500 a year without lifting a finger. Nice work if you can get it.
Grubby But before we castigate this woman, perhaps we should consider the mitigating circumstances that drove her to dip her grubby fingers into the till.

For those unfamiliar with what photo stamps are, they are simply a novel spin on the traditional stamp printing device. This has a far greater impact than one would imagine as it speaks volumes about a company. It shows that the company is novel and hip and willing to take chances. It looks like the company is proactive as opposed to other companies that would not care enough to add little subtle personalized touches.
